With the support of funding from Hertfordshire Golf, our team of PGA professionals run Social Golf Clinics every other Thursday throughout the year for people living with Parkinson’s and dementia. We enjoy a coffee or refreshment together at 10:30am, before heading out to play golf from 11:00am to 12:00 noon. Participants can pick up helpful tips on the Toptracer driving range, have some fun on the Muntjac Par 3 course, or practise their short game using our facilities.
Everyone is welcome to attend, whether or not they have their own golf clubs. Carers are also warmly invited to join us for morning refreshments, or even have a go at golf themselves if they wish.

With the support of funding from the Kate and Justin Rose Foundation, we work with Knightsfield School to provide a comfortable, inclusive learning environment for children with hearing impairment. Our vision is to offer an opportunity to learn a sport they might have felt wasn’t for them or had barriers to entry. Where this programme differs from others is that we are looking to create a clear pathway into golf, whether that be at Essendon or elsewhere. Our goal is for a significant number of participants to gain a handicap, enabling them to join a club and play either competitively or socially with friends.
The deaf community can often feel shut off, and we want to help these participants feel confident playing alongside fellow club members.

At Essendon, once a month on a Sunday morning, we come together to enjoy playing golf in a fun and welcoming environment. Our professional team hosts a group of women and girls, building on their knowledge of the game with the aim of getting them confidently out onto the golf course as the warmer weather arrives.
This support is helping us to open up golf to more deaf women and girls across Hertfordshire, building confidence and community while providing opportunities both on and off the course.
This initiative is being rolled out nationwide by Fiona Brookes, England Deaf Golf Development Officer, to encourage more deaf women and girls to take up golf. There are currently four other hubs in operation, located in Surrey, Peterborough, Yorkshire and the West Midlands.
